Data from LSEG and Kpler shows that a day after Iran stated that Iraq could be exempt from restrictions on this key waterway, an oil tanker carrying Iraqi crude was spotted navigating through the Strait of Hormuz along a route near the Iranian coast. Kpler data indicates that the ‘Ocean Thunder’ loaded approximately 1 million barrels of Basra heavy crude on March 2, and is expected to discharge in mid-April at Port Klang, Malaysia.
