U.S. Senator sharply criticizes the Secretary of Defense for war hawkishness

On March 4, local time, U.S. Senate Democratic leader Schumer sharply criticized the U.S. government for launching war again in the Middle East. He said that what the American people “least want and least need is for the Middle East to flare up with fighting again.” Schumer accused Defense Secretary Hegseth of “caring more about generating media sound bites” rather than explaining to the American public the plans for war and their rationale. That day, Hegseth said at a press conference that the timeline for a conflict between the United States and Iran could reach 8 weeks or even longer. (CCTV News)
