Hubei: Proactively deploying computing power infrastructure, promoting algorithm innovation, and strengthening the supply of high-quality data
On March 25, Wang Zhonglin, Secretary of the Hubei Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hubei Provincial People’s Congress, chaired a meeting to advance the development of the digital and intelligent economy in the first quarter of 2026. Wang Zhonglin emphasized that we must further strengthen support, speed up building a support system based on data, supported by computing power, guided by algorithms, and with electricity as the foundation; proactively plan computing infrastructure; advance algorithm innovation; enhance high-quality data supply; improve the capacity to guarantee electricity; and lay a solid foundation for the development of artificial intelligence. We must further strengthen R&D by focusing on core technologies such as general-purpose chips for deep learning, AI chips integrating memory and computing, and multimodal human-computer interaction, and by organizing forces from all sides to tackle them with strong efforts; support leading enterprises with good growth potential to accelerate their development and grow bigger and stronger, using major breakthroughs to drive an overall leap forward; and improve a talent support system of “attracting, cultivating, employing, and serving,” so as to speed up the gathering of more high-end talent. We must further strengthen applications: based on the principle of “open as much as possible,” expand the supply of production scenarios, work scenarios, and living scenarios; accelerate the production and application of representative products such as humanoid robots, using products to lead production and using production to drive R&D; and apply prudent and inclusive regulation to new products, new technologies, and new business models, so as to speed up the deep integration of artificial intelligence with economic and social development.
