On March 30 local time, the chairman of the executive committee of Iran’s National Development Fund, Gazang Fari, said that Iran’s power plants are widely dispersed and numerous, which reduces the likelihood of a complete nationwide blackout. Gazang Fari said that if Iran’s power generation facilities were targeted, Iran would plunge the entire region into a blackout, and he said that Iran’s armed forces have the capability to do so. Gazang Fari also said that countries that support actions by the United States and Israel “will sooner or later need to pay a price for it,” which could be reflected in damage to their own territory or in the future having to compensate for losses incurred by Iran. Gazang Fari said that once the conflict affects energy facilities, the main parties that may suffer damage are likely those countries that provide military bases to the United States. In that case, those countries may ultimately push for a ceasefire. (CCTV News)
