At the long, lingering sound of ship whistles, a cargo vessel fully loaded with 200k tons of ore slowly docks at the berth in the South Working Area of the Shijiu Port Area of Rizhao Port, Shandong Port. Far out at sea, the spring tide surges, with sparkling, rippling light.

港口泊位上,40多米高的红色卸船机钢铁巨臂稳稳移动,从船舱里抓取大宗货物,精准地放在传送皮带上。

At the port’s berths, the steel giant arm of a red-colored ship unloader over 40 meters tall moves steadily, grabbing bulk cargo from the cargo holds and precisely placing it onto the conveyor belt.

记者抬头望向卸船机,却遍寻不见操作人员的踪影。

The reporter looked up at the unloader but searched everywhere and could not find any sign of the operators.

“这是我们新投用的全自动卸船机,操作人员都在3公里开外的智能运营中心呢!”陪同采访的日照港技术创新中心科技研发部主管工程师侯世波给记者“科普”。

“This is our newly commissioned fully automatic ship unloader. The operators are at the intelligent operations center more than 3 kilometers away!” Hou Shibo, a chief engineer in charge of science and technology R&D at the Rizhao Port Technology Innovation Center, “gave the reporter a briefing” during the interview.

来到石臼港区南区智能运营中心集控室,电子大屏上数据闪烁,船舶动态、货物信息、作业进度等一目了然。操作人员在一排排屏幕前熟练地推拉手柄,遥控着远处那威风凛凛的卸船机。

Arriving at the centralized control room of the intelligent operations center in the southern area of the Shijiu Port Area, electronic large screens flicker with data; ship status, cargo information, and work progress are all clearly visible at a glance. Operators, in front of rows upon rows of screens, skillfully push and pull the handles, remotely controlling the imposing unloader in the distance.

“以前卸船,我们得爬上21米高的门机,在不足5平方米的空间里低头作业,一干就是大半天……腰酸背痛不说,还影响速度和准头。”卸船机操作人员郑运强告诉记者,“现在好喽!有了人工智能、自动控制等前沿技术,活干得又轻松又高效。”

“In the past, when unloading, we had to climb onto the 21-meter-high gantry crane, and work with our heads bowed in a space of less than 5 square meters. We’d be at it for half a day or more… Not only did it leave you with sore back and aching waist, it also affected both speed and accuracy.” Zheng Yunqiang, an operator of the ship unloader, told the reporter, “Now it’s better! With frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence and automatic control, the work is both easier and more efficient.”

漫步于日照港大宗干散货智慧绿色示范作业区,“传统变智能、繁杂变精简”的场景比比皆是。“现在,码头已初步实现自动化、智能化。这些转变,都是靠咱科研团队和技术工人们坚持创新、不断攻坚实现的。”日照港技术创新中心一级技师田振东感慨。

Strolling through Rizhao Port’s smart and green demonstration work area for bulk dry cargo, scenes of “turning traditional into intelligent and making the complex lean and streamlined” can be found everywhere. “Now, the terminal has initially realized automation and intelligentization. These changes are achieved by our research teams and technical workers who insist on innovation and continuously push through tough challenges,” said Tian Zhengdong, a first-level technician at the Rizhao Port Technology Innovation Center,感慨.

Tian Zhengdong is an “old hand at the dock.” This skilled expert grew up from front-line workers and deeply understands the importance of the word “innovation” for port construction.

“这些天,我们集体学习了‘十五五’规划纲要。看里面提到‘完善现代化综合交通运输体系’‘基本建成世界级港口群’,心里咋能不激动?要达到规划要求,靠什么?靠‘创新’。”他坚定地说,“没有现成的路,就开动脑子、迈开步子,结结实实地蹚出一条路!”

“These days, we’ve all been studying the outline of the ‘Fifteenth Five-Year Plan.’ When you read it mentioning ‘improving a modern integrated transportation system’ and ‘basically building a world-class port cluster,’ how could you not feel excited? To meet the plan’s requirements, what do we rely on? We rely on ‘innovation,’” he said firmly. “If there’s no ready-made road, then we rack our brains and take steps forward, and firmly blaze a road for real!”

“十五五”时期的港口,拼的是新质生产力,是抢占技术高地、智能引领未来。“目前,港口的自动化升级正在进行中。作为大宗干散货智慧绿色示范港口建设团队带头人,我正带领团队把前期积累的自动化改造成果用在新工程上。我们将继续优化提升装卸设备集群协同能力、推动自动化操作系统迭代升级,更充分地应用5G+北斗精准定位等先进技术,有效提升港区安全管理智能化水平和作业效率。”田振东说。

During the “Fifteenth Five-Year Plan” period, ports will compete on new quality productive forces—seizing the commanding heights of technology and using intelligence to lead the future. “At present, the port’s automation upgrade is underway. As the team leader for the construction of the smart, green demonstration port for bulk dry cargo, I’m leading the team to apply the automation results accumulated in the earlier stage to new projects. We will continue to optimize and enhance the coordinated capabilities of the port’s handling equipment cluster, promote iterative upgrades of the automation operation system, and make even more extensive use of advanced technologies such as 5G+BeiDou precise positioning, effectively improving the level of intelligent safety management in the port area and work efficiency.” Tian Zhengdong said.

田振东带记者来到码头作业现场,眼前是随处可见的智能充换电站,一辆辆新能源运输车、电动环保车、电动智能导引车在堆场间穿梭往返。

Tian Zhengdong took the reporter to the dock operation site. “以前,捣运的货车、火车机车支撑起了港口物流,但也造成了移动源污染,成了我们心头一块沉甸甸的石头。这几年,港口实行‘油改电’,构建智能环保管控系统,实现了智慧和绿色的深度融合。”田振东的话语里充满振奋:“现在,更替绿色运力的步子越迈越大,到今年年底,港内运输车辆将实现100%全电动化,每年削减二氧化碳排放将超过41k吨。到时候,欢迎你们再来看——一座更‘绿’、更美、更智慧的日照港,一定会成为现代化大港的样板!”

“Previously, freight trucks and train locomotives supported port logistics, but they also caused pollution from mobile sources, which became a heavy stone weighing on our minds. In recent years, the port has implemented ‘diesel-to-electric conversion,’ building an intelligent environmental protection and management control system, achieving a deep integration of intelligence and green development.” Tian Zhengdong’s words were full of excitement: “Now, the pace of replacing green transport capacity is getting bigger and bigger. By the end of this year, the vehicles used for transportation within the port will achieve 100% full electrification, and the reduction in carbon dioxide emissions each year will exceed 41k tons.
