People’s Daily Online, Xiamen, April 2 (Reporter Zhang Meng) Recently, a distinctive “one-stop” recruitment event was held at a university in Lanzhou, Gansu. Written tests and interviews proceeded in an orderly manner at the same time. At the scene, students either worked frantically with pen and paper, or lined up for interviews, or paused to consult—presenting a vivid picture of school-enterprise alignment… This is a snapshot of the Xiamen Municipal Labor and Employment Center (hereinafter referred to as “the Xiamen Employment Center”) organizing key employers to go deep into universities outside the province to carry out precise talent recruitment.

From March 26 to 29, the Xiamen Employment Center organized 10 key employers from Xiamen to travel all the way to Lanzhou in a bid to carry out school-enterprise matchmaking and negotiation activities, thereby kicking off this year’s series of school-enterprise cooperation activities. By strengthening digital and intelligent empowerment, leveraging industry advantages, and promoting mutual reach, the event actively built a school-enterprise matchmaking platform of “industry + majors + employment,” receiving more than 500 students’ resumes expressing job application intentions and achieving the event goal of “companies recruiting talent, students getting employment, and mutual win for the city and the enterprises.”

It is reported that, in order to thoroughly implement the Regulations of Fujian Province on Promoting High-Quality and Adequate Employment, to serve the overall framework of Xiamen’s “3+1” urban development transformation and upgrading, and to help key enterprises recruit workers and attract talent, the Xiamen Employment Center, around the concept of “industries find universities and needs match majors,” focuses on key industry sectors such as new energy, electronic and electrical appliances, machinery manufacturing, and new materials. By innovating employment service initiatives and leveraging the advantages of the digital and intelligent foundation of Xiamen’s “i employment” platform, it precisely matched the majors and characteristics of graduates who will be employed in Xiamen with key employer enterprises in Xiamen and four applied engineering-oriented colleges in Lanzhou, thereby improving the precision of talent recruitment from the source.

In the early stage, the center pre-shared the participating employers’ job information with each university to mobilize and warm things up in advance. Before heading to Lanzhou, some companies had already received dozens of resumes expressing job application intentions from graduates. At the same time, it innovated the matchmaking format and broke down information barriers between schools and enterprises. It also pre-prepared a customized “Analysis Report on Students’ Employment in Xiamen” for each university, so that universities could not only feel Xiamen’s sincerity and eagerness to attract talent, but also fully understand Xiamen’s employment policies and the specific situations of students regarding employment in Xiamen—ensuring that “they have a clear mind and employment is well planned.”

Not only that, the Xiamen Employment Center also focused on Xiamen’s industry advantages and actively expanded the influence of the Xiamen employment-friendly city brand. By organizing school-enterprise symposiums, policy briefings, and visits to practical training bases, it promoted, in an all-round way, the advantages of Xiamen’s layout for the “4+4+6” modern industrial system, and provided detailed interpretations of a series of warm and supportive policies, including talent introduction subsidies, housing security, and settlement support, vividly demonstrating Xiamen’s livable and workable urban environment. Company representatives then delivered briefings on job requirements, compensation and benefits, and career development pathways; with clear career planning and generous benefits protection, teachers and students at the universities can truly feel Xiamen’s industrial development potential and employment opportunities. During the process, the employment center also organized in-depth communications and matchmaking between enterprises and universities on issues such as targeted talent supply and order-based training, reaching multiple cooperation consensus and laying a solid foundation for subsequent long-term cooperation.

It is worth mentioning that in recent years, Xiamen has successively held 21 school-enterprise matchmaking meetings, actively building a school-enterprise matchmaking platform of “industry + majors + employment.” It invited well-known vocational (technical) colleges across the country to come to Xiamen for face-to-face matchmaking and negotiation with enterprises, and conducted on-site inspections of the status quo of Xiamen’s industries. In this “dual selection fair” special session in Lanzhou Industrial College, the school held special briefings for multiple enterprises, showcasing in all directions the corporate culture of employing people and fully demonstrating the good interaction and efficient alignment between schools and enterprises.

And this effectiveness also stems from the solid groundwork laid for the matchmaking in advance. The enterprises that came to recruit talent had successfully established contacts through the school-enterprise matchmaking meetings held in Xiamen last year. Through on-site inspections, the universities highly recognized the development prospects of Xiamen enterprises. They also publicized in advance to students Xiamen’s urban development advantages and related information on the development of enterprises, laying a good foundation for the smooth conduct of this school-enterprise matchmaking activity.

“‘Just Be in Xiamen, Mutual Win Between Schools and Enterprises’—this school-enterprise matchmaking event has successfully built a talent bridge for precise alignment between Xiamen’s key enterprises and Lanzhou universities, opening a green channel for Lanzhou university graduates to find employment in Xiamen,” said a relevant person in charge of the Xiamen Employment Center. In the next step, it will, in the form of “one theme per quarter,” regularly organize key enterprises to go to quality universities outside the province to carry out school-enterprise matchmaking activities, continuously broaden talent recruitment channels, and keep optimizing the talent recruitment model of “matching industries with majors and serving employment based on needs.” It will establish a closed-loop mechanism of “dynamic demand feedback—targeted talent cultivation—employment follow-up services,” and promote school-enterprise cooperation to move from “one-off recruitment” to “deep binding,” continuously reserving and delivering more high-quality skilled talent for sustained preparation and delivery for Xiamen’s high-quality development.
