Abstract generation in progress

A reporter learned from a press conference held today by the State Taxation Administration that since the start of the 2025 individual income tax (IIT) reconciliation on March 1, more than 70 million people have applied for tax refunds.

According to the briefing, the 2025 IIT reconciliation began on March 1 this year. In the month since then, more than 70 million taxpayers have applied for refunds according to law. In addition, more than 5 million taxpayers have self-reported and filed according to law to pay additional taxes. Tax authorities have continued to optimize the filing experience, further expand pre-filling services, and also added voice-guided prompts to adapt key functions such as sign-in to an accessibility mode.

Director of the Policy and Regulations Department of the State Taxation Administration, Dai Shiyou: Please make reasonable arrangements for your time and file in staggered batches to avoid the peak period at the end of June as much as possible. Taxpayers who are entitled to a refund should get their refund “bonuses” as soon as possible; those who need to pay additional taxes should file within the prescribed time and pay the tax due, to avoid late fees caused by overdue filing and resulting in unnecessary losses.

Tax authorities remind taxpayers that they must handle the reconciliation through official channels such as the Individual Income Tax App and the e-Tax Bureau for Individuals. Do not trust the various “tax refund tricks” online. Do not provide your IIT App account, password, bank card and other information to strangers, to prevent risks such as misuse of personal information, unauthorized withdrawals, and card charges.
