Federal Reserve's Daly: The Fed Should Focus on Employment Rate Instead of Employment Data

BlockBeats message, on April 4, Federal Reserve official Daly said that the economy does not need to create a large number of jobs as before to maintain the same proportion of the population being employed. In this environment, the monthly hiring data no longer most accurately reflects the health of the labor market. The unemployment rate may be a better measure.

She said: “Ratios and indicators such as the employed population and its share of the population, the unemployment rate, the quits rate, or the hiring rate can reflect changes in the size of the workforce, thereby more clearly reflecting the health of the labor market.” (Jin Ten)
