Delphi Digital: GameFi funding in 2025 decreased by over 55% year-over-year

ChainCatcher message: Delphi Digital posted on the X platform stating that in 2025, the GameFi industry’s performance has been lackluster, with funding amounts down more than 55% year over year. The most anticipated product launches performed poorly, and market enthusiasm remains low.

Web2.5 games are quietly rising. Such games treat the blockchain purely as underlying infrastructure; they typically do not issue tokens and compete based on actual revenue. Studios including Fumb Games, Mythical Games, and Wemade/Wemix continue to generate substantial income while using blockchain technology to improve profit margins and enhance engagement.

Web3 native games have generated six- to seven-figure revenue this year, but the player base is smaller and is plagued by bots; once incentives disappear, user churn is severe. Web2.5 studios can currently leverage the advantages of blockchain without forcing users to speculate. The widespread adoption of stablecoins will accelerate this trend, making small transactions, global payment rails, and engagement-based reward mechanisms more convenient.
