IT Home on March 18 reported that Tesla today announced that the Model Y has once again topped the world in vehicle sales, with no additional qualifiers.
Tesla said the Model Y has surpassed all gasoline / pure-electric / hybrid passenger vehicles for 3 consecutive years, with global cumulative sales exceeding 4 million units.
According to statistics from the analytics firm JATO Dynamics, the Model Y became the global sales champion for passenger cars in 2023.
According to statistics from the global comprehensive data repository Statista, the Model Y became the global sales champion for passenger cars in 2024.
According to statistics from the international automotive market analysis firm Focus2Move, the Model Y became the global sales champion for passenger cars in 2025.
According to IT Home’s earlier report, Tesla produced 1,654,667 vehicles in full-year 2025, delivered 1,636,129 vehicles, and deployed 46.7GWh of energy storage. Specifically by model:
Model 3/Y had production of 422,652 units and deliveries of 406,585 units in 2025 Q4, respectively, with full-year production of 1,600,767 units and deliveries of 1,585,279 units, respectively;
For other models, production in Q4 was 11,706 units and deliveries were 11,642 units, respectively, with full-year production of 53,900 units and deliveries of 50,850 units, respectively.
Tesla’s company vice president Tao Lin announced in February this year that in 2025, the Shanghai super factory’s delivery volume reached more than half of Tesla’s global delivery volume, and the energy storage super factory’s production capacity also began supplying multiple markets at home and abroad.
