Due to the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, as of the morning of March 4, a total of 44 Japan-related vessels have been stranded in the Persian Gulf. According to a report from the Japan Shipowners’ Association, there are 24 Japanese crew members on these ships. It is reported that among the 44 stranded vessels, about 30 are energy-related ships transporting crude oil and liquefied natural gas, while the rest are car carrier ships and cargo ships. At present, food and drinking water on board can be secured, and no reports have been received yet of injuries to personnel or property damage. The Japan Shipowners’ Association said it will work closely with the Japanese government to prioritize ensuring the safety of personnel, vessels, and cargo.
