Changqing Oilfield: 2,156 new wells join, continuously playing a “ballast” role

On March 15, as the heating period in major cities in northern China came to an end, the supply guarantee task of Changqing Oilfield during this heating period was successfully completed, with the average daily gas supply in January increasing by over 2.9% year-on-year, continuously exerting its “ballast” role in natural gas supply guarantee.

As the largest natural gas production base in the country, Changqing Oilfield planned ahead and organized scientifically, prioritizing natural gas supply guarantee, and started preparatory work six months in advance, breaking down targets at multiple levels and solidifying responsibilities, establishing a comprehensive supply guarantee network.

Changqing Oilfield insists on balancing stable production and potential tapping for efficiency improvement. By strengthening the coordination of drilling, testing, and commissioning processes, and pre-building wellhead pipelines, it has achieved the addition of 2,156 new wells to the gas supply line by 2025, with new supporting production capacity in self-operated areas reaching 6.9 billion cubic meters, and the efficient construction and operation of the Yu37 gas storage facility, adding new momentum for winter supply. By tapping into the potential of old wells and comprehensively applying fine gas reservoir description, production enhancement measures, and intelligent extraction technologies, it effectively controlled the decline rate of old wells. At the same time, it deepened the integrated operation mechanism, strengthened the collaborative effort of new and old wells, maintaining stable average daily production and firmly grasping the initiative in natural gas production.

Regarding gas storage production, since the comprehensive startup of injection work at four gas storage facilities, the cumulative injection volume has increased year-on-year, ensuring sufficient “food supply” for gas extraction in winter. After the winter of 2025, gas storage facilities such as Shan224 and Su Dong39-61 will simultaneously switch to gas extraction mode, implementing a differentiated extraction strategy of “initial production control for stable storage, full force during peak” to fully leverage the emergency support role of high-yield peak-shaving wells. Meanwhile, Changqing Oilfield has conducted in-depth integrity monitoring of gas storage facilities, utilizing microseismic monitoring and other technical means for a comprehensive “health check” on geological body sealing and equipment, ensuring safe and stable operation of the gas storage facilities.

“We implement precise control over each gas well through an intelligent management platform, allowing the wells to ‘speak’ and ‘self-heal’,” said Liu Ruchao, head of the Internet of Things Center of the Digital and Intelligent Division of Changqing Oilfield. From intelligent plungers to smart intermittent operations, a series of data-driven drainage and gas extraction measures based on big data analysis have promoted the management of gas wells from “experience judgment” to “data decision-making.” Currently, intelligent technology has been fully implemented in over 20,000 gas wells, gradually becoming the “strongest brain” for stable production and supply guarantee.

During the winter supply period, Changqing Oilfield adhered to safety production as the bottom line, achieving full-process control through comprehensive inspections of key areas and digital inspections. The youth assault team is on standby 24 hours a day to efficiently handle sudden issues like liquid accumulation in gas wells and pipeline freezing, and independently developed unblocking tools to enhance efficiency. Southwest Oil and Gas Field: Digital empowerment boosts natural gas production and sales

During this heating period, the Shunan Gas Mine of the Southwest Oil and Gas Field utilized an intelligent platform to achieve digital scheduling and full-process management, refined pipeline analysis, and strengthened equipment and power supply guarantees, ensuring smooth and stable natural gas production. In new well construction, it optimized the connection of drilling and testing while enhancing surface support; in old well management, it continued to deepen the “one well, one policy” governance, implementing targeted measures such as unblocking, gas lifting, and pressurization to increase gas well output.

As of March 15, the natural gas production and sales of the Shunan Gas Mine during this heating period both increased year-on-year, effectively ensuring the gas demand for regional livelihoods and industries.

Jidong Oilfield: 140 million cubic meters of gas directly reaches Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei to ensure citizens’ warmth

At 24:00 on March 15, as the Tangshan area officially stopped heating, Jidong Oilfield successfully completed its natural gas winter supply task for this round, delivering a total of 140 million cubic meters of natural gas to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region during the heating period.

Precise scheduling ensures stable supply for people’s livelihoods. During this winter supply period, Jidong Oilfield prioritized people’s livelihoods, established a monthly demand dynamic forecasting mechanism, tracked the gas usage curve in real-time, and scientifically adjusted supply guarantee strategies. In the face of challenges such as tight gas sources, Jidong Oilfield firmly maintained the bottom line of “no reduction in civil gas,” proactively connecting with upstream resources through the trunk pipeline network, clearing supply-demand bottlenecks, and ensuring that every cubic meter of natural gas is used effectively to warm the hearts of the people.

Guarding the “arteries,” increasing inspections to strengthen safety defenses. During this winter supply period, Jidong Oilfield comprehensively strengthened the operation and maintenance of the pipeline network, intensively inspecting key gas transmission trunk lines such as the Nantang line and six natural gas stations. For high-consequence areas, valve chamber wells, and other key regions, network-style inspections were conducted, while simultaneously promoting equipment testing, anti-corrosion, insulation, and hidden danger governance to keep the pipelines healthy in cold weather, ensuring safe gas supply.

Emergency response, 24-hour protection without interruption. To deal with peak gas usage and emergencies, Jidong Oilfield activated the winter supply emergency response mechanism, refining and improving disposal plans for equipment failures and natural disasters, ensuring quick response and orderly management. The central control room monitors the pipeline operating pressure 24 hours a day, accurately adjusting gas volume peaks and valleys; dedicated personnel connect with downstream gas companies daily to dynamically adjust the gas supply rhythm; key supply guarantee areas are regularly revisited to continuously ensure citizens’ warmth.
