A Chinese national from Alhambra was sentenced to two years in federal prison for his involvement in a scheme that defrauded Apple Inc. of at least $16.2 million. The scheme involved importing counterfeit iPhones and iPads from China, exchanging them for genuine devices at Apple stores across Southern California using warranty programs, and then reselling the authentic products for profit. The defendant, Zhengxuan Hu, was also ordered to pay a share of the $16.2 million restitution to Apple.
