Recently, the Guchai Police Station of the Gaoxin District Public Security Bureau, in cooperation with local bank branches, successfully prevented a fraud case and immediately helped the public recover more than 7,000 yuan in financial losses.

Case Review

That day, the Guchai Police Station received a report from bank staff in the area. It turned out that when Mr. Zhou, a local resident, went to the bank to handle a transfer, the bank staff noticed that he appeared anxious, spoke abnormally, and was insistent on transferring money to an unfamiliar account. After a brief conversation, the staff sensed something was wrong, judged that Mr. Zhou might be a victim of telecom and internet fraud, and immediately called the police.

After receiving the report, the police quickly arrived at the scene.

According to the investigation, Mr. Zhou had some grain coupons in his possession. He usually paid attention to related information. Recently, a person claiming to be “Mr. Zhang” from an auction house added Mr. Zhou as a friend. The person falsely claimed that the grain coupons Mr. Zhou held could be auctioned for a high price, but that “listing fees” and “handling fees” needed to be paid first, and instructed Mr. Zhou to transfer the money to a designated account.

Believing him completely, Mr. Zhou went to the local bank to make the transfer. After a brief exchange, the bank staff felt something was off, which led to the initial report to the police. After understanding the situation, the police used real anti-fraud cases to patiently persuade Mr. Zhou, gradually dispelling his doubts. In the end, Mr. Zhou completely abandoned the idea of transferring money, and the police successfully protected over 7,000 yuan for him.

1. Currently, scams involving collectibles are escalating; scammers often use AI technology, forged documents, and other methods to set traps targeting elderly collectors, claiming “high buyback prices” or “internal channels” to deceive victims.

2. Do not trust strangers’ promises of high prices, and do not believe online AI “authentication results.” If you want to cash out, do so through legitimate collectible markets, authoritative online platforms, or professional auction houses. Any transaction requiring upfront payment is a scam.

3. If you encounter similar situations, promptly call 110 or contact community police for help. Also, remind elderly family members to install the “National Anti-Fraud Center” app and enable call warning functions to comprehensively protect their property safety.
