COSCO Shipping Resumes Bookings for Gulf States, Vessels Temporarily Not Transiting Strait of Hormuz

Odaily Planet Daily reports that COSCO Shipping Lines previously issued a service notice: starting today, they will resume new booking services (for standard containers) from the Far East to the Middle Eastern Gulf countries of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq. Resuming shipments does not mean that COSCO’s container ships can pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Several COSCO representatives stated that the ships will not pass through the strait for now. Instead, similar to the previous CMA CGM plan, containers will be shipped by sea to the port of Sur in Oman on the east side of the strait; then transported by land to ports such as Jebel Ali and Fujairah in the UAE, and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, before being transferred by land to these countries.
