Data released by the UK Home Office on February 26 shows that during the first year of President Trump’s second term, the number of Americans applying for British nationality reached a record high. The data indicates that in 2025, a total of 8,790 Americans applied for British citizenship through registration or naturalization, a 42% increase from the previous high of 6,192 in 2024. In the fourth quarter of last year, the number of applications reached a record 2,490. Nick Rollason, head of immigration at law firm Kingsley Napley, said, “Interest from Americans seeking global mobility options continues to rise, and citizenship is an important part of that.” Rollason added, “The political climate in the U.S. seems to be a significant factor driving some people to seek a more stable and predictable environment overseas.” (Jiemian News)
