The company stated that the growth in shareholders’ attributable profit was mainly due to improved performance in the insurance services and net investment income compared to last year, as well as a one-time benefit from China’s new corporate income tax policy for the insurance industry.

During the period, life insurance profit was HKD 34.586 billion, up 2.29 times year-on-year; domestic property insurance profit was HKD 966 million, an increase of 20.1%; and reinsurance profit was HKD 1.284 billion, up 34.1%, primarily driven by improved insurance service performance and net investment income.

Asset management profit was HKD 1.45 billion, an increase of 1.69 times year-on-year, mainly due to higher management fee income. Insurance service revenue was HKD 24 billion, up 9%, mainly because of better performance in life insurance business compared to last year.

Additionally, China Taiping’s overseas property insurance company, Taiping Hong Kong, underwrote fire insurance for Tai Po Hong Fuk Court. The report did not mention the impact on its business. The report noted that during the period, Taiping Hong Kong’s after-tax profit was HKD 19.64 million, a decrease of 73.6% year-on-year.

The company stated in its earnings report that it is fully engaged in the aftermath work of the Tai Po fire in Hong Kong. Working together with the community, it is making every effort to assist affected residents through the crisis, quickly activating emergency response mechanisms, and adhering to the principles of “prompt claims, full claims, and reasonable pre-claims” according to insurance contracts, actively ensuring insurance claims and customer service.
