Mars Finance reports that, according to Caixin.net, COSCO Shipping Lines previously issued a service notice: effective immediately, they will resume new booking services (standard containers) from the Far East to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq, these Middle Eastern Gulf countries. Resuming shipments does not mean that COSCO Shipping’s container ships can pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Several COSCO personnel stated that ships will not temporarily pass through the strait. Instead, similar to the previous CMA CGM plan, containers will first be shipped to the port of Sur in Oman on the east side of the strait; then to the ports of Jebel Ali and Fujairah in the UAE, and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, after which containers will be transferred via land transport to these countries.
