CITIC Wealth Futures: Lithium Carbonate Supply Sufficient and Demand Improving, Expecting Fluctuating Trend

Abstract generation in progress

The fundamentals of lithium carbonate remain largely unchanged. Upstream smelting plants are adopting a strategy of maintaining prices and cautious selling. Weekly inventories at smelting plants have slightly increased. However, with Chile’s export volume and average prices both showing a significant rebound, it is expected that after ships arrive at ports, domestic lithium carbonate supply will remain sufficient. On the demand side, downstream battery manufacturers are maintaining a buy-on-dip strategy. As lithium prices are quite sensitive to fluctuations, the gap in market expectations between buyers and sellers remains large. Spot market trading sentiment has become more active as lithium prices fluctuate and decline. Downstream inventories are increasing weekly. Overall, the fundamentals of lithium carbonate may be in a stage of ample supply and improving demand, with industry inventories slightly decreasing. The trend is expected to be somewhat volatile.
