COSCO Shipping Resumes Bookings for Gulf States, Vessels Temporarily Not Transiting Strait of Hormuz
Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 25 — According to Jinshi Data, COSCO Shipping Lines previously issued a service alert: starting today, they will resume new booking services (for standard containers) from the Far East to the Middle Eastern Gulf countries of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq. Resuming shipments does not mean COSCO Shipping’s container ships can pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Several COSCO representatives stated that ships will temporarily not transit the strait. Instead, similar to the previous CMA CGM plan, containers will first be shipped to the port of Sur in Oman on the east side of the strait; then to the ports of Jebel Ali and Fujairah in the UAE, and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, after which the containers will be transferred via land transport to these countries.
