Corrupt Official Embezzled Over 700 Million Yuan; Former China Aviation Industry Corporation Chief Tan Ruisong Sentenced to Life Imprisonment with Reprieve
[Caixin] Former top executive of AVIC, Tan Ruisong, who was dismissed over a year ago, has been sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve.
According to the Supreme Court website, on March 25, 2026, the first instance public verdict was announced at the Dalian Intermediate People’s Court in Liaoning Province for the case of Tan Ruisong, former Party Secretary and Chairman of China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC), on charges of embezzlement, bribery, insider trading, and leaking insider information.
The Dalian Intermediate Court sentenced defendant Tan Ruisong to 15 years in prison for embezzlement, with a fine of 5 million RMB; sentenced him to death for bribery, with a two-year reprieve, lifelong political rights deprivation, and confiscation of all personal assets; sentenced him to six years in prison for insider trading and leaking insider information, with a fine, and decided to execute the death penalty with a two-year reprieve, lifelong political rights deprivation, and confiscation of all personal assets; the embezzled assets and bribe proceeds, along with interest, are to be returned to the victim units, and the illegal gains from bribery and insider trading are to be lawfully confiscated and turned over to the state treasury, with continued efforts to recover illegal gains from insider trading.
