Midday Review: Shanghai Composite Index Down 2.5%, Coal Sector Rallies Against the Trend

People’s Financial News, March 23 — The three major A-share indices experienced fluctuations and adjustments in the morning session. By midday, the Shanghai Composite Index fell by 2.5%, the Shenzhen Component Index dropped by 2.53%, and the ChiNext Index declined by 2.44%. In the market, the coal sector defied the trend and strengthened, with Yunmei Energy, Liaoning Energy, and Shanxi Coking Coal hitting the daily limit. The photovoltaic concept stocks were also active against the trend, with Huamin Shares, Toray New Energy, and Zhejiang New Energy hitting the daily limit. The green power concept was lively, with Huaneng Liaoning Energy hitting six consecutive daily limits. Gold stocks led the decline, with Chifeng Gold hitting the limit down. Oil and gas, electrical equipment, and robotics sectors also saw significant gains, while breeding, tourism, and shipping sectors experienced the largest declines.
