According to reports from Hong Kong Economic Times, Hong Kong Police's "Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau" disclosed that a 39-year-old woman lost over HK$5.5 million in a cryptocurrency romance scam. The victim was lured by a suspect claiming to be an employee of a renewable energy company to invest in cryptocurrency on a fraudulent platform. Within two months, after transferring funds to multiple unknown Faster Payment System (FPS) accounts, the suspect disappeared. According to official police data, in just the past week alone, 15 similar romance scam cases have been reported, with the total fraud amount approaching HK$10 million.
