In light of the ongoing deterioration of the situation in the Middle East, the Hong Kong SAR Government today raised the travel alert level for Iran and Israel to black, and issued yellow travel alerts for several Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

A government spokesperson stated that a black travel alert indicates a serious threat. Due to the highly uncertain security situation in Iran and Israel, the SAR Government urges citizens not to travel to these areas. Hong Kong residents in Iran and Israel should pay attention to personal safety and evacuate or move to relatively safer areas as soon as possible. Additionally, Hong Kong residents planning to travel to or already in Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE should stay alert, exercise caution, and monitor the latest updates and consular services issued by the Chinese embassies and consulates in those locations.

Furthermore, although Kuwait is not currently covered by the travel alert system, the Security Bureau has updated the travel alert webpage with additional information regarding Kuwait, reminding citizens to stay vigilant and prioritize safety.
