On March 23, after 60 hours of debugging and operation, the 500 kV Jingyuan (Jingmen East) Substation located in Jingmen City, Hubei Province successfully commenced operation and began supplying electricity. This is the first ultra-high voltage substation put into operation in Hubei Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, which can provide conditions for connecting surrounding wind power, photovoltaic, and other new energy projects to the Hubei power grid. The 500 kV Jingyuan (Jingmen East) Substation is located at a key node of the “West-to-East Electricity Transmission” main channel, and is an important node for the transmission of electricity from the Three Gorges, Gezhouba, and other hydropower stations, as well as the Jingmen Power Plant Phase III. The 500 kV Jingyuan (Jingmen East) Substation has put into operation 2 sets of transformers with a capacity of 1000 MVA each, and the newly added power supply capacity can increase the power supply capacity of the Jingmen power grid from the current 1.9 million kilowatts to 3.4 million kilowatts, which will effectively optimize the power supply structure of the central Hubei power grid.
