Secondary School Assistant Vice Principal involved in stealing 3,500 yuan worth of goods from a supermarket; granted a conditional discharge.
The assistant vice principal of a secondary school was accused of stealing goods worth over 3500 dollars from the Sogo department store in Causeway Bay last year and was charged with one count of theft. The case was mentioned again today at the Eastern Magistrates’ Courts, where the defendant agreed to the facts of the case. Principal Magistrate Cheung Chi-wai approved the defendant to sign for 2000 dollars on their own, with a behavior bond for 36 months, and the charge was withdrawn.
The defendant Wu Ka-hin, 47 years old, reported as the Assistant Vice Principal of a secondary school, is charged with one count of theft. The charge states that on October 11, 2025, she stole 18 packs of noodles, 4 bottles of beverages, 2 boxes of rice, 3 packs of snacks, 2 bottles of health products, and 10 bottles of condiments, totaling a value of 3561.4 dollars, and the aforementioned items are the property of Sogo Hong Kong Co., Ltd.
The prosecution applied to withdraw the charges, and the defendant also agreed to the case facts. The judge then approved the defendant to handle the case by signing a bond for good behavior, and pointed out that the amount involved was relatively large, reminding the defendant to cherish this opportunity.
The case indicates that on the afternoon of the incident, around 4 PM, the security guard discovered the defendant taking items off the shelves and placing them into a shopping bag, after which he did not pay for these items. The guard then stopped the defendant and called the police. Under police caution, the defendant stated: “I was greedy for a moment and stole them for my own use.”
