Nikita Bir reacts to the surge of fraudulent accounts on X: the social network intensifies its fight
A wave of concern swept through the X community after users pointed out the widespread distribution of fake accounts on the platform. Criticism is focused on the fact that the platform’s leadership, including product manager and Solana adviser Nikita Bir, is paying more attention to niche areas like InfoFi rather than addressing fundamental security issues. The community is demanding urgent measures to cleanse the platform of accounts that are used for fraud and spreading malicious content.
Sinister Scale: Over 22 Thousand Fake Profiles
According to the latest data, the number of new fraudulent accounts has reached 22,600. These fake profiles have launched a well-organized campaign: they actively use the Space (voice channels X) to attract users’ attention, and then redirect them to phishing links that lead to websites of fake pre-sale cryptocurrency projects. The scale of the problem has become so critical that manual moderation can no longer cope with the flow of violations — hundreds of new criminal accounts appear every day, outpacing the team’s ability to block them.
Innovative solutions from the community: facial scanning as a barrier
Concerned users have proposed the introduction of biometric authentication - a login mechanism via facial scanning. In their opinion, such an approach would significantly hinder malicious actors from creating mass fake accounts and reduce the number of automated attacks. The proposal has received widespread support in the community as one of the most effective ways to combat fraud on the platform.
Official Position: Nikita Bir confirms work on the issue
In response to the wave of criticism, Nikita Bir stated that the problem is already on the radar of X management and the team is actively working on its resolution. Although a detailed action plan has not yet been disclosed, this statement indicates an acknowledgment of the seriousness of the situation at the highest levels of the platform’s leadership. Users are now expecting concrete measures that should improve X’s reputation as a safe communication platform.
