Starting from the evening of March 21 local time, explosions were reported in multiple locations across Iran, and Tehran’s air defense systems were activated to intercept invading targets. According to Li Jiannan, a reporter for China Central Television in Iran, in the early hours of the 22nd, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran launched strikes using missiles and drones against multiple sites in Israel and some U.S. military bases, causing damage to some Israeli facilities and injuring approximately 200 people. In response to U.S. President Trump’s threat that if Iran does not fully open the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours, the U.S. will target Iran’s power plants and other energy facilities, Iran stated that if its energy facilities are attacked, U.S. and allied facilities in the region will become legitimate targets for retaliation. Iran also said that, aside from ships related to Iran’s enemies, foreign ships can pass through the strait after coordination with Iran on security and safety issues. (CCTV International News)
