The Chief Executive has accepted the recommendation of the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal to extend the term of Qi Xianyì, a non-permanent judge of the Court of Final Appeal from other common law jurisdictions, for a further three years starting from 6 April 2026.The Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal Ordinance provides for a list of non-permanent judges from Hong Kong and a list of judges from other common law jurisdictions. Non-permanent judges serve a term of three years, and the Chief Executive may, upon the recommendation of the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, extend the term of a non-permanent judge once or multiple times, with each extension lasting three years.

The Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal Ordinance provides for a list of non-permanent Hong Kong judges and judges from other common law jurisdictions. The term of non-permanent judges is three years, and the Chief Executive may, based on the recommendation of the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, extend the term of non-permanent judges once or multiple times, each extension lasting three years.
