The Global Talent Summit Week opened at the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Centre. Chief Executive John Lee stated that as of the end of last month, more than 410,000 applications have been approved under various talent entry schemes, with over 270,000 talents arriving in Hong Kong. The SAR government is accelerating the development of the Northern Metropolis, aiming to establish it as an international innovation and technology hub, and strengthening cooperation with the 11 cities in the Greater Bay Area to provide more opportunities for talent mobility.

Committed to Openness and Internationalization to Attract Investors Worldwide

John Lee pointed out that Hong Kong has always been committed to openness and internationalization. The rule of law, an independent judiciary, and a reliable system provide stability and confidence. A simple and competitive tax system, an open international business environment, world-class public transportation, and a rich, diverse cultural atmosphere contribute to high-quality living, which are also Hong Kong’s advantages.

He also mentioned that technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital innovation are reshaping various industries. Facing global population competition, Hong Kong will continue to uphold openness, deepen international cooperation, and closely align with national development strategies, further improving education, innovation, and infrastructure.

Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security: Improving Policies for Facilitating Hong Kong-Mainland Talent Exchange

Yu Jiadong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, said that the central government attaches great importance to Hong Kong’s vital role in building an international talent hub and a national talent gateway. The HR departments of the Greater Bay Area are fully supporting the construction of a high-end talent gathering place, including mechanisms for talent employment services, social security, professional qualifications, and skills training, to improve policies facilitating talent exchange.
