China responds on whether China and Russia will support Iran

On February 26, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning hosted a routine press conference. A foreign journalist asked whether China would support Iran alongside Russia if the United States attacked Iran, in order to resist any U.S. aggression. Mao Ning stated, “We are closely monitoring the development of the Iran situation. China has always advocated resolving issues through political and diplomatic means and opposes the use or threat of force in international relations.” Mao Ning pointed out that the Chinese and Iranian peoples have a traditional friendship. China supports the Iranian government and people in maintaining national stability and legitimate rights and interests. She hopes all parties cherish peace, exercise restraint, and resolve differences through dialogue. China is willing to continue playing a responsible major power role in this regard. (Beijing Daily)
