US Clarifies False Reports About Trump-Related Matters or Delayed China Visit

The Financial Times of the UK reported that U.S. President Trump “threatened to delay his visit to China over issues related to ensuring the safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.” In response, U.S. Treasury Secretary, White House Press Secretary Leavitt, and Trump himself all publicly clarified the matter that day. Bassett stated that if Trump’s visit to China is postponed, it is not because Trump requested China to maintain the security of the Strait of Hormuz passage; the report is completely false. If there is a rescheduling of meetings with Chinese leaders, it will be because “Trump believes he should stay in the U.S. during the ongoing conflict.”
