ChainCatcher reports that, according to CriptoNoticias, the Buenos Aires court in Argentina has ordered a complete ban on the prediction market platform Polymarket. The ban is to be enforced by the national communications regulator ENACOM, and Google and Apple are required to remove its app from local app stores.

The ban was prompted by a complaint from the Buenos Aires Lottery Bureau (LOTBA), which determined that Polymarket, under the guise of a “prediction market,” is essentially operating an unauthorized online gambling business. The platform does not require identity or age verification, posing significant risks to users. Argentina thus becomes the second country in Latin America, after Colombia, to impose a comprehensive restriction on the platform.
