Semiconductors | SK Chairman: Chip shortage is expected to continue until 2030
South Korea’s SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won stated that due to the ongoing demand for artificial intelligence (AI), it is expected that the global chip shortage will continue for the next 4 to 5 years, lasting until 2030.
Will Announce Measures to Stabilize DRAM Prices
Chey Tae-won said at the NVIDIA GTC conference in the United States that the group and other chip companies are expanding capacity, but it will not be until around 2030 that market needs can be fully met. Additionally, the group may announce measures to stabilize DRAM chip prices. Tensions in the Middle East have driven energy prices higher, prompting the exploration of alternative energy sources.
Furthermore, Chey Tae-won continued to say that the group is still evaluating the possibility of issuing American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) in the U.S. to expand its global investor base.
