China's Foreign Minister Holds Phone Calls with Multiple Foreign Counterparts; Foreign Ministry: Clarifies China's Position, Actively Promotes Peace and Prevents War
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has spoken with foreign ministers from multiple countries regarding the Iran situation. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning introduced the details of the calls at today’s (3rd) regular press conference. Mao Ning stated that recently, Foreign Minister Wang Yi has spoken with the foreign ministers of Russia, Iran, France, and Oman, clarifying China’s position and actively advocating for peace and opposing war. Wang Yi pointed out that attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran during the Iran-U.S. negotiations are unacceptable; openly killing a sovereign country’s leader and inciting regime change are unacceptable. These actions violate international law and basic principles of international relations. China’s position is: First, immediately cease military actions; second, return to dialogue and negotiations as soon as possible; third, jointly oppose unilateral actions. Wang Yi emphasized that China supports Iran in defending its sovereignty, security, territorial integrity, and national dignity, and in safeguarding its legitimate rights and interests. China values the legitimate concerns of Gulf countries and supports Gulf states in maintaining their sovereignty and national security. Major powers cannot arbitrarily attack other countries using military superiority, and the world cannot revert to the law of the jungle. The international community should oppose any actions that violate international law and jointly uphold the basic principles of international relations. China will continue to play a constructive role, including seeking justice at the United Nations Security Council, striving for peace, and stopping war. (CCTV News)
