Apple acquires video editing software company to strengthen creator ecosystem and boost subscription growth
Apple has acquired Polish video editing software company MotionVFX, with the potential to further enhance the “Final Cut Pro” suite and generate more service revenue for the company.
On Monday (March 16), MotionVFX announced on its official website, “We are excited to announce that MotionVFX is joining the Apple team to continue empowering creators and video editors to achieve their best work.”
For 15 years, we have been committed to creating world-class, visually inspiring content and effects for video editing. From the beginning, we have focused on quality, ease of use, and excellent design. These are also the values we admire most in Apple products, and we are delighted to embrace them together.
We want to take this opportunity to thank all our incredible customers and supporters who have accompanied us over the years. You have inspired us, challenged us, and helped shape our products into what they are today. We are grateful to be part of this amazing community and look forward to continuing our work to serve you.
In January this year, Apple launched the Creator Studio subscription service, bundling software such as Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro. The company claims this subscription package can empower various creative professionals.
Looking ahead, MotionVFX’s tools are also expected to join the Creator Studio package, potentially helping Apple attract more users from Adobe’s Premiere software and generate more revenue from creative professionals.
Over the past decade, services have become one of Apple’s largest growth engines. In the last fiscal year, this segment contributed over 26% of the company’s revenue, up from 8.5% in 2015.
Apple typically does not disclose acquisition deals publicly unless they are unavoidable, such as the company’s acquisition of Pixelmator at the end of 2024. This photo editing app ultimately became a core part of the Creator Studio ecosystem.
