Breaking! Moscow hit by a large-scale attack!
The Russia-Ukraine conflict has suddenly escalated.
According to the latest news, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin stated on the 14th that Russian air defense forces shot down 65 Ukrainian drones heading toward Moscow on that day. According to TASS, this is one of the largest drone attacks Moscow has experienced this year.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to launch large-scale strikes. Ukraine’s Energy Ministry and the State Energy Company jointly issued a statement on the 14th, saying that Russia carried out a large-scale attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in the early hours, causing power outages in multiple states.
Moscow Experiences Large-Scale Drone Attacks
On March 15th, Xinhua News Agency reported that Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced on social media that Russian air defense forces shot down 65 Ukrainian drones heading toward Moscow on the 14th.
Sobyanin began posting about the downed drones from the afternoon of that day, and by nearly midnight, the total reached 65.
The Russian Defense Ministry issued a statement on the evening of the 14th, saying that from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Russian air defense units intercepted and shot down 280 Ukrainian drones over various parts of Russia, including 47 heading toward Moscow.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff did not mention this incident in their daily report.
According to information from the Russian Defense Ministry and local rescue command, from the night of the 13th to the morning of the 14th, multiple regions in southwestern Russia, including the Krasnodar Krai and Belgorod Oblast, were attacked by Ukrainian drones, with Russian air defenses shooting down over 120 drones.
The Krasnodar Krai Rescue Command stated on the 14th that the Caucasus Port on the eastern coast of the Kerch Strait was attacked by Ukrainian drones, resulting in at least three injuries, damage to one engineering vessel, a fire at a berth area, which has now been extinguished. The Belgorod Oblast Rescue Command reported that 211 drones attacked several villages and towns in the region, causing at least one death and nine injuries.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that between 8 p.m. on the 13th and 11 a.m. on the 14th, Russian air defense shot down 124 Ukrainian drones over southwestern Russia and nearby waters. The Russian military also used the “Tsvetok” drone to destroy several launch and storage sites for long-range drones in Peryemoga, Sumy region, Ukraine.
On March 14th, Ukrainian Defense Ministry Intelligence announced via social media that they conducted a special operation causing the Russian ferry “Slavyanin” to become completely inoperative, and damaging the “Vanguard” vessel.
The statement said both ships are key transportation carriers at the Kerch crossing, responsible for critical logistical supply along the Kerch Strait.
Russia has not responded to this yet.
Since January this year, representatives from Russia, the US, and Ukraine have held three rounds of talks in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and Geneva, Switzerland, discussing troop disengagement, ceasefire supervision mechanisms, and establishing coordination centers. However, key territorial issues remain unresolved. Meanwhile, ground combat and long-range strikes between Russian and Ukrainian forces continue.
Ukraine: Russia Attacks Energy Facilities
On the 14th, Ukraine’s Energy Ministry and the State Energy Company jointly announced that Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in the early hours, causing power outages in multiple states.
The statement said the attack mainly targeted energy facilities in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast. Additionally, ongoing shelling along the frontline caused damage to energy infrastructure in other regions. By early morning, power outages affected Kyiv, Kyiv Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Cherkasy Oblast, and Kirovohrad Oblast.
As a result of this attack, Ukraine’s State Energy Company had to temporarily adjust the duration and scope of its scheduled power restrictions.
The next round of Ukraine-Russia negotiations is closely watched by all parties. Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said on the 13th that Russia hopes to continue trilateral talks with the US and Ukraine on Ukraine issues, but no specific date for the next round has been announced.
During a routine press conference that day, Peskov stated that Russia is in contact with the US regarding Ukraine and is not worried that Iran’s situation will distract the US from handling Ukraine.
He also emphasized that Russia highly values the efforts the US is making to resolve the Ukraine crisis.
On the 14th, Peskov said that Russian oil is currently indispensable to the global energy industry, and after the US eased sanctions, many buyers are interested in purchasing Russian oil.
Peskov pointed out that Russian oil entering the international market helps stabilize the market, and the US has granted a one-month sanctions exemption to try to stabilize global energy markets. In this regard, US and Russian interests are aligned.
On the 12th, the US Department of the Treasury announced a temporary easing of sanctions on some Russian oil. According to Russian sources, the governments of Thailand and Sri Lanka have previously expressed interest in purchasing Russian oil.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at a press conference in Paris on the 13th that the US’s decision to partially ease sanctions on Russian oil could bring about $10 billion in war funding for Russia.
Zelensky also stated that several countries have requested Ukraine to send experts to the Middle East.
Previously, Zelensky said Ukraine had sent intercept drones and expert teams to a US military base in Jordan to help defend against drone threats. He mentioned that the US requested assistance on March 5, and Ukrainian teams departed for the Middle East on March 6.
