Apple Watch class action claims about carbon neutrality dismissed

Abstract generation in progress

A California federal judge dismissed a class action lawsuit against Apple Inc., which alleged the company made false claims about the carbon neutrality of its Apple Watches. The judge found that the plaintiffs’ claims, based on their analysis of Apple’s carbon credits, lacked sufficient expert validation and relied on unsupported assumptions. The dismissal allows the plaintiffs an opportunity to amend their complaint to address these deficiencies, while highlighting Apple’s reliance on Verra-certified carbon credits as a reasonable basis for its neutrality claims.
