(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday asserted that Israel has stepped up its military actions in Gaza and the West Bank, even after a ceasefire agreement took effect earlier this month.

Speaking at an iftar gathering in Ankara — the evening meal marking the end of the daily fast during Ramadan — Erdogan criticized Israel’s actions following the truce reached on Oct. 10, 2025. The ceasefire, he noted, had been achieved with contributions from Türkiye.

“Despite the Oct. 10 (2025) ceasefire, secured with also Türkiye’s efforts, Israeli government continues to escalate its attacks on Gaza and West Bank,” Erdogan said.

He further highlighted the resilience of Palestinians in Gaza, describing how families continue to observe Ramadan rituals in temporary shelters surrounded by destruction. According to his remarks, those who break their fast in damaged buildings and stand firm in the face of hardship demonstrate steadfastness and spiritual strength, offering what he characterized as a powerful example of faith to Muslims around the world.
