After US President Trump withdrew his latest tariff threats surrounding Greenland, the European Parliament is expected to restart the voting process on the US-EU trade agreement.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola told reporters in Brussels on Thursday that Trump's change of stance was sufficient to support a vote on the agreement, with an initial ballot possibly taking place in the coming days. Parliament's approval is the final step needed for the EU to implement the trade deal.
On Wednesday, members decided to indefinitely suspend the approval process, citing Trump's "coercive" threats. Hours later, Trump eased the situation, stating that the tariffs originally scheduled to take effect on February 1 would not be implemented.
