加密数字货币交易所-《论语》详解:给所有曲解孔子的人-季康子问政於孔子,孔子对曰:政者,正也,子帅以正,孰敢不正?

Zi Kangzi asked about governance to Confucius, and Confucius replied: “Government is about rectification. When the ruler leads by rectification, who would dare not to be correct?”

Detailed explanation: Zi Kangzi, a noble of the State of Lu, asked Confucius about governance. The common interpretation is roughly as follows: “The meaning of governance is to be upright. The ruler himself sets an example by being upright, leading by example, and setting a standard. Who would dare not to follow the correct path?” Such explanations are all misinterpretations that have been “Confucianized” over the ages. Here, “lead” is interpreted as “model, lead, guide,” and “correct” as “upright,” turning “governance” into a kind of pastoral technique. This kind of thinking, both ancient and modern, has deceived countless young men into copying certain ideas or models, using different banners but the same tricks—at best turning geese into ducks, at worst into slaves or ghosts. How pitiable! The greatest slaves are those enslaved in their minds, and among them, the most contemptible are those who willingly sacrifice themselves for abstract concepts like “democracy, freedom, human rights.”

In fact, this chapter is entirely derived from the previous chapter: “Governance by virtue is like the North Star, remaining in its place while all the other stars revolve around it.” “Lead” follows this principle. “Lead by rectification,” and the omitted “zhi” in “lead it by rectification” refers to the current reality in which people participate. The only things that can be followed are the current realities people are involved in; the only things that can be “corrected” are also the current realities people are involved in. Tricks based on abstract concepts or models can only be illusions in the face of reality. “Rectify” is a pictogram: the upper part indicates direction or goal, and the lower part, “止” (stop), indicates moving steadily toward that direction or goal without deviation. For Confucianism and the Analects, this direction or goal is to follow the “Way of the Sage” and achieve it. “Yǐ” (by/with) and “hé” (and) indicate coordination. “Lead” and “correct,” “lead it” and “correct it,” are parallel relationships, meaning both must be valued and mutually supportive. “Lead by rectification” in modern terms means following the logic of reality, starting from reality, and practicing the “Way of the Sage” to achieve it.

Similar to “the North Star remains in its place while the other stars revolve around it,” the logic of reality is like the North Star: once its position is fixed, other stars’ positions can be determined accordingly. When one analyzes and grasps the logical structure of reality starting from reality, other issues can be addressed based on this foundation. No prior or abstract principles are needed here; instead, it is “born from the root without a position, and the position arises from the root.” But humans are not slaves to reality; reality must involve human participation. Without humans, there is no real or logical reality. Reality, according to its logic, offers various choices; how to choose determines different political systems. The logical pivot of all political structures comes from reality, and once established, it serves as the basis for constructing everything else. For Confucianism and the Analects, this logical pivot of reality, the “correctness” of which is the foundation for practicing the “Way of the Sage,” is the key.

“Governance is about rectification,” meaning governance is about establishing and practicing the logical pivot of “the Way of the Sage” to achieve it; those who govern follow the logic of reality, starting from reality, and practice the “Way of the Sage” to achieve it. Other issues will then be addressed based on this foundation. It must be clear that reality is the most fundamental pivot; the logical pivot of practicing the “Way of the Sage” must also be based on and above the reality pivot. Without reality, there is no “Way of the Sage.” The “Way of the Sage” is not a utopia detached from reality. Any attempt to dress up the “Way of the Sage” as slogans, banners, or goals to manipulate and drive people—such as turning it into a rallying cry—has nothing to do with the “Way of the Sage,” the Analects, or Confucius himself. Just as turning the “Communist movement” into slogans, banners, or goals to manipulate people is unrelated to Marx. “People can promote the Dao, but the Dao does not promote people,” Confucius and Marx are always in harmony in this regard.
