Zcash Overhauls Governance Framework, Phases Out Developer Block Rewards
The Zcash network has implemented a major governance restructuring that marks a significant shift in how the protocol allocates its block rewards. Under the previous model, a portion of mining rewards flowed automatically to the Zcash Foundation and Electronic Coin Company to fund ongoing development and ecosystem initiatives.
This arrangement has now been discontinued as part of a broader protocol governance refresh. The change signals Zcash's evolving approach to decentralized decision-making and funding mechanisms, moving away from the fixed allocation model toward a governance-driven framework.
The update reflects the community's push for greater transparency and control over protocol resource allocation, a recurring theme in mature blockchain ecosystems seeking sustainable funding without centralized intermediaries.

so they finally cut off the dev tax... interesting move, but ngl this smells like the classic bait-and-switch. "decentralized governance" sounds nice until you realize it's just moving the control vacuum elsewhere. who actually votes on this stuff? always wonder if the real power consolidation happens in the dark forest before the on-chain vote even drops.

Zcash's recent reform is quite aggressive, directly cutting developer mining rewards... Feels like a good thing, taking another step towards decentralization.

Wait, is Zcash really going to give up on developer rewards? Feels a bit harsh...

Oh no, Zcash is shooting itself in the foot by removing developer rewards? This should have been changed a long time ago. Acting now, it's really a bit slow...

Zcash's recent reform is quite interesting; they finally cut those fixed allocations... Is it really possible to achieve decentralized financing? I'm a bit skeptical.

Zcash's recent reform is quite aggressive, directly cutting developer rewards? Feels a bit like throwing a tantrum, huh.

ngl, phasing out those developer rewards feels like removing the head chef's salary and hoping the kitchen still runs itself... zero-knowledge proofs can't cook a meal if nobody's getting paid to work the line, fr fr
