Lacking storytelling power, Web3 cannot enter the vast land

Abstract generation in progress

The failure of Web3 has never been due to a lack of creativity. In fact, its problem lies in the difficulty of resonating with people.

Currently, most Web3 narratives are filled with abstract concepts: public chains, infrastructure, protocols, layers… These terms are not wrong in themselves! But they lack a touch of “human warmth,” making it impossible for ordinary people to feel connected.

This is exactly where the value of storytelling lies. In the Web3 space, the importance of storytelling far exceeds that of any other industry.

Web3 built on logic, but devoid of emotional resonance

In other fields, people already carry their own cognitive contexts. A few examples: talking about food can stimulate your appetite; discussing fitness can help you visualize progress; talking about travel immediately brings to mind the scenery of the destination.

But Web3 fails to do this. Creators and project teams often painstakingly explain: how powerful the unseen systems and intangible processes are.

Without a story to set the stage, all of this feels distant and cold.

In short: utterly boring. Clearly, no one will pay for boredom.

Stories are the entry point for ordinary people into Web3

Most creators and project teams start by rushing to explain how things work. But they forget that the opening of a good story always describes: how it makes people feel.

Confusion, laughter, relief, vulnerability… These emotions are completely absent from Web3 narratives.

Friend, if this trend continues, the outcome is obvious. Even if people don’t understand the technology, these emotions are universal. The key is that when someone recognizes familiar feelings in a story, they will subconsciously follow you to listen to your subsequent professional explanations.

Stop listing features, and focus more on moments of user experience

Compare two ways of expression, the difference is clear.

Feature-first version: This feature improves system scalability by optimizing throughput.

There’s nothing wrong with this, but it’s forgettable… and what exactly is it saying? 😂

Story-first version: I keep refreshing the page, ready to wait again… but then I realize the transaction was completed long ago.

The same core message, but the latter adds warmth and is easy to understand.

Storytelling isn’t about downplaying technology; it’s about preparing the audience’s brain in advance to receive complex information.

Got it? I hope you understand. Let’s continue…

Complex concepts need real-life scenarios to ground them

When faced with complex problems, people often ask: “What does this have to do with me?”

Stories can quietly provide the answer. Just a simple, relatable scene can establish a connection.

You don’t need to explain every detail exhaustively. You only need to showcase a key moment: a frustrating bottleneck, a moment of stress relief, a small victory.

That’s enough to make a complex concept feel real and tangible.

Practical validation: this methodology really works

My core work is creating story-driven video content for Web3 bounty campaigns and sponsors.

Over time, I’ve noticed a pattern: the videos that win are never the ones with the most hardcore technical explanations, but those that open with moments full of human warmth.

I don’t start by listing features or explaining principles, but focus on these scenes: the first awkward moments using the product; the stumbling before understanding a feature; the moment of clarity when finally connecting.

This storytelling approach always keeps viewers engaged longer and helps them understand faster. That’s also why my videos stand out in bounty competitions.

Not because I talk more about technology, but because I make complex concepts feel warm and emotionally resonant.
