Ethereum founder Vitalik recently discussed the direction of AI laboratory development. He believes that if a new AI laboratory is to be established, "enhancing human capabilities" should be the primary goal for clear positioning. In other words, systems with strong autonomy that can operate independently over the long term should not be developed. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of open source—keeping the code as open and transparent as possible. Vitalik pointed out that highly autonomous AI systems currently pose many hidden dangers, and this approach deserves the industry's attention. This view also reflects the Web3 community's deep thinking on AI governance.
