Korea's largest payment infrastructure provider BC Card announces a partnership with the Base chain, jointly promoting a pilot project for domestic payments using the USDC stablecoin.

The core of this collaboration is to connect two key pathways: first, integrating the Base chain wallet directly with BC Card's QR code payment system; second, establishing a complete closed loop from USDC transactions to final settlement in Korean won. In simple terms, merchants can accept USDC via QR code, which is automatically converted into Korean won for settlement. Throughout the process, various aspects such as compliance, system compatibility, and practical operability will be tested.

The significance of this pilot lies in three levels: first, to verify the usability of stablecoins in everyday payment scenarios; second, to explore the integration direction between cross-chain wallets and traditional QR code payment systems; and third, to assess whether this scheme can truly operate within the local business environment. In other words, BC Card is seeking a pathway for the commercialization of stablecoins.
