Decentralized Identity (DID) is changing our understanding of identity data. Instead of having major platforms control identities, DID allows users to truly own their own identity information. A single verification can be reused across different platforms, eliminating the need for repeated registration.

Worldcoin issues identity tokens through iris scans, a solution that ensures uniqueness while cleverly protecting privacy. Microsoft ION takes a different approach—building an enterprise-level identity network that enables organizations and individuals to manage identities within a unified framework. Both approaches serve similar purposes.

The pain points of traditional identity systems are obvious: personal data is controlled by countless platforms, the risk of leaks remains high, and centralized institutions monopolize the discourse over identity data. The emergence of DID aims to break this deadlock—returning user data to users, making privacy no longer a luxury.

Iris scanning is a bit scary, feels like implanting a chip in yourself... But on the other hand, being constantly cut by the platform is really annoying. Can the Worldcoin system truly protect privacy? I'm still a bit hesitant. If DID can really become popular, then it's a win. Microsoft's ION enterprise solution still feels far from us. If cross-platform authentication can really be achieved, that would be awesome. Current identity verification is so annoying, registering and verifying repeatedly. DID is a good idea, but I'm worried it might become just another tool for cutting the leeks. Privacy should really be back in the hands of users, I agree with that. Leak risks are present every day, centralized platforms really need to regulate. How to ensure the security of iris data? That's a question. Big platforms are holding too much now, they need to loosen up. The idea of cross-platform reuse is good, but it depends on who can truly implement it. Whether DID becomes popular or not still depends on whether the market is willing to buy in.

Iris scanning sounds good, but it also feels like collecting biometric data... Can we really trust it? I love that there's no need for repeated registration, but what if the DID wallet gets hacked? Can it be recovered? The idea that users control their identity, but in the end, it still relies on third-party verification—what's the point of truly owning it? Worldcoin's approach feels a bit aggressive; Microsoft's more conservative methods might actually be more reliable. Privacy returning to users is ideal, but in reality, it depends on who can truly avoid selling data. One-click authentication is indeed attractive, but how long will it take for this to become widespread? Centralized institutions monopolizing is really disgusting, but will decentralized identity systems also encounter problems?

I'm really a bit worried about the iris scan solution from Worldcoin, I always feel like I'm giving away my biometric data... Are you really at ease with that? Registering repeatedly is indeed annoying, but whether DID works depends on whether each platform cooperates. Data breaches happen every day, centralized platforms monopolizing personal information should have been changed long ago, just saying. Microsoft ION sounds more reliable; enterprise-level frameworks are always better than doing nothing. The promised privacy return to users, but ultimately it depends on who will oversee it. DID sounds promising, but how many will actually adopt it in reality? Not very optimistic.

Iris scanning sounds hardcore, but can it really be trusted... It always feels like old wine in a new bottle Cross-platform reuse of one-time authentication sounds great, but the days of registering repeatedly are a real headache Having your data back in your own hands is the way to go, otherwise you're just working for the platform Worldcoin's system feels a bit over-engineered, can't it be simpler? Traditional centralized systems should be reformed, but can DID truly replace them completely? That's the question Microsoft's ION enterprise solution is indeed more reliable, after all, backed by a major company Data leaks have been a headache for a long time, I support DID if it can really solve that Privacy shouldn't be a luxury, that's so true Just not sure how high the cost of popularizing DID will be, or if it will become a new tool for cutting leeks again
