"Absolutely impossible" for Bitcoin to fall to zero, says exchange CEO
Source: PortaldoBitcoin Original Title: “There is not the slightest chance” of Bitcoin going to zero, says Coinbase CEO Original Link: The CEO of a compliance platform stated at the DealBook Summit that there is absolutely no chance of Bitcoin dropping to zero.
This executive, seated alongside the CEO of a major asset management firm, made the comment in response to a journalist’s question about the remarks made by well-known Bitcoin skeptics throughout history.
“Do you think there’s a possibility they were right? They’ve called Bitcoin ‘rat poison’ and claimed it would eventually drop to zero,” the journalist asked. “Absolutely no chance,” the CEO replied.
The executive of the largest US cryptocurrency exchange emphasized that people’s mindsets change over time, and that the older generation of investors grew up in an era when the US dollar was seen as unquestionable.
However, he pointed out that democratic countries now face deficit problems, and Bitcoin is being positioned as a new form of ‘digital gold’ in uncertain times, which makes it difficult for those with traditional views to accept a more decentralized and digital world.
Meanwhile, the CEO of the major asset management firm admitted that his past criticisms of Bitcoin were wrong, as he had previously associated it with illegal activities. Today, the firm holds the world’s largest spot Bitcoin ETF.
“I have strong opinions, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be wrong,” the CEO said. “My thought process is constantly evolving.”
