Tracking the Altcoin Dance: My Raw Take on the Season Index

I've been watching this Altseason Index like a hawk lately, and damn if it isn't giving me flashbacks to 2017 and 2021. Currently sitting at 43, it's been climbing steadily since bottoming out in May-June. For anyone who doesn't get why this matters - when this baby hits 75, it means most altcoins are outperforming Bitcoin over a 90-day period. That's when the real party starts.

The way I see it, money's already flowing out of BTC and into the alt market. People are getting bored with Bitcoin's steady crawl and chasing those juicy gains in smaller projects. Can't blame 'em - I'm tempted too.

What pisses me off is how predictable this cycle is, yet how many traders will still miss it. The big money players know exactly what they're doing - pump Bitcoin first, then systematically drain into alts when retail FOMO kicks in. It's a well-orchestrated game, and most of us are just along for the ride.

If you're smart (unlike me during the last cycle when I held BTC too long), you'll start shifting some weight from Bitcoin into mid and small-caps. I'm particularly eyeing AI projects, Layer 2s, and gaming tokens. The Solana and Avalanche ecosystems are looking primed too.

Just don't go all-in at once. This index could easily fake us out before the real move happens. Been burned by that before - not fun losing 50% because you jumped the gun.

The truly annoying thing is how exchanges profit regardless of which way this goes. Their trading fees stack up while we're all frantically switching positions. But that's the game we've chosen.

Keep an eye on this index weekly. When capital starts moving en masse, you don't want to be the last one to notice. These alt seasons don't come around often, but when they do... well, let's just say I'm still kicking myself for selling that gaming token too early in 2021.
