Mustafa Al-Bassam's story reads like a tech thriller. Born January 1995, this Iraqi-British genius behind $TIA walked an unusual path. Hacker turned visionary. Quite the transformation.
At just 16, he created LulzSec in 2011. A hacker collective. They broke into major corporations, causing chaos. The authorities caught up with him in 2012. Consequences followed. Prison time. A mark on his record.
By 2025, everything changed. A complete reinvention. After earning his PhD from University College London in 2021, Al-Bassam helped build Celestia Labs. It seems his technical skills found a legitimate outlet.
Celestia emerged as something new in October 2023. The first modular data availability network. Breaking traditional blockchain into parts. Consensus. Data availability. Execution. All separate. All specialized. Kind of surprising how this architecture lets other chains just plug in.
The roadmap looks ambitious. 1GB blockspace by late 2025? They're making progress. Their 128MB block testnet is already running. Money isn't a problem. They've got funding. Their validator network? Up and running.
