According to recent reports, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) made a significant organizational change. Jorge Tenreiro, previously the Chief Litigation Counsel of the agency, was transferred to the Information Technology department (IT), where he is now responsible for maintaining the SEC's computer systems.

This internal movement, announced by a major financial publication on February 5, 2025, comes after Tenreiro led six high-profile lawsuits against various cryptocurrency trading platforms.

The reorganization at the SEC was not limited to just the transfer of Tenreiro. The agency also made changes to the position of a lawyer who was involved in drafting accounting guidelines for the custody of crypto assets. These guidelines had previously created obstacles for financial institutions offering cryptocurrency custody services to their clients.

These changes in the internal structure of the SEC suggest a possible shift in the agency's approach to the cryptocurrency sector. However, it is important to note that the SEC has not provided official comments on the motivations behind these personnel changes or how this may affect its future regulatory actions in the crypto space.
